Fortschritt Karibik
A co-production among club tipping point and Lubricat in Vierte Welt Kollaborationen, Berlin
ctp 3.3#progress#karibik
In the interplay between J. Conrad’s short story „An Outpost of Progress“ – a colonialist novel from the beginning of the last Century – and Raoul Peck’s „Fatal assistance“ – an Haitian documentary from 2012 – two development worker get to their limits on the „island“ in the Caribbean in club tipping point’s new project . Those limits results on the one hand from the development aid, on the other hand from a systematical avoidance mechanism at this historical controversial place. This becomes apparent in the moment when they meet THE BLACK.
After ctp 3.2#paradies#karibik, an examination of a tourist’s naive view of the Caribbean, explores ctp 3.3#progress#karibik in the second part of the Caribbean trilogy the Eurocentric view of the West about this region, and it goes from this same perspective out.
